2016 Cinema Tropical Festival


Repeating Islands


Museum of the Moving Image and Cinema Tropical present the 2016 edition of the Cinema Tropical Festival celebrating the year’s best Latin American productions. The festival will feature the winners of the 6th annual Cinema Tropical Awards, which were announced on January 20. These films (listed here) represent the artistic excellence of contemporary Latin American cinema. The Museum of the Moving Image is located at 36-01 35 Ave, Astoria, New York.

The first event of the 2016 Cinema Tropical Festival will be the screening of U.S./Puerto Rican film Mala Mala (directed by Antonio Santini, Dan Sickles) and live event featuring the directors and documentary subject April Carrión in person; followed by a reception. The second is Invasión (Panama/Argentina) by Abner Benaim. See details below:
