All 52 GOP Senators Vote To Confirm Neil Gorsuch By Changing The Rules

ALL 52 REPUBLICAN SENATORS VOTED TO CONFIRM NEIL GORSUCH BY NUKING DEMOCRACY

Minutes ago, all 52 Republican senators voted to confirm Neil Gorsuch after, yesterday, Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans chose to detonate the “nuclear option” to stop Democrats’ filibuster against Trump’s right-wing nominee.

We need a Democratic Senate more than ever – both as a check on future Supreme Court nominations from Trump and to hold him accountable on matters of war and peace.

Republicans showed that they would go to any lengths for Trump and to force Trump’s nominee who blatantly supports corporations over women, workers, and everyday people onto the Court.

Here’s a way to fight back: Elizabeth Warren is running for reelection in 2018. And now, progressive Congressman Beto O’Rourke (D-TX) — who we support because he’ll be a strong ally of Warren and other progressives — is running for Senate against Ted Cruz in Texas. Cruz was one of Gorsuch’s most enthusiastic cheerleaders.

While every Senate Republican voted to change the rules for Trump, one was different. The Daily Show’s Trevor Noah quipped during Gorsuch’s hearings, “all of the Republicans were loving Gorsuch, but there was one guy who was in love… I haven’t seen Ted Cruz that giddy since that one time he got a LinkedIn request.”

By lowering the threshold to confirm justices from 60 to 51, Republicans have forever made Supreme Court confirmations strictly party-line votes and further eroded any sense of bipartisanship in Washington.

Thanks for being a bold progressive.
