Usually, as a year draws to a close, I begin thinking about all that has, and has not, taken place and come up with a phrase or a word to sum it all up. 2011 is thought of as the year my world imploded. 2015 earned the title of the worst year of my life. 2016 was the year of recovery and loss. 2017? The year of changes.
All of the changes of 2017 fall into one of these categories that I devised to try to make sense of all of it:
