The Forgotten

Love's Deep Waters

This poem was written by my husband March 8, 2018.

He wrote it based upon his memories of a previous sentence when he was forgotten. He also wrote with compassion for those around him whom he tries to help when he can. My husband is currently serving out a 15 year sentence and this time, he is not forgotten.

The forgotten inmate

As the judge sentenced me
And drops the gavel
I have no friends and family
To come see me or travel
I’m in a world of its own
I feel people hating me and throwing stones
Other dudes beat me up and push me around
To the point where there’s no one there to help me off the ground
I have no one and I’m all alone
I don’t have someone to even call on the phone
People get visits money and mail
I just lower my head…
