A breeze of late September by the sea

and the breeze of late September by the sea
brings the scent of change hidden behind the horizon;
the departure of summer that has not yet begun
carries away showers of rain in the heat of the sun

my back is made of thick glass that carries
all mistakes and sorrows and lessons and pains
and as summer that never came, I have to go
if I don’t want my back to break, but to grow

for I can hear a sound of crashing glass getting closer
around a corner, hidden in my father’s smile –
future here brings nothing but broken bones and hearts
nothing but floating souls torn from their parts

to grow wings that wait by the roads of my journey
to find legs that can walk on the sun
to be carried with a breeze of late September by sea
to a coast by the ocean…
