Anthony Bourdain was found dead of an apparent suicide by his friend Éric Ripert on June 8, 2018, in his hotel room in Kaysersberg-Vignoble, France. He was working on an episode of Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown in Strasbourg, France.
CNN confirmed the death of their colleague, while adding, “His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller. His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much.” Other celebrity chefs expressed their sadness. Andrew Zimmern wrote, “Tony was a symphony. I wish everyone could have seen all of him.” Gordon Ramsay wrote that Bourdain “brought the world into our homes and inspired so many people to explore cultures and cities through their food.”
